William The Conqueror, consisting of multi-instrumentalists Ruarri Joseph, Naomi Holmes and Harry Harding, came together in early 2017. The release of the LP "Proud Disturber of the Peace", which drew comparisons to "Kings of Leon", marked the group's first appearance on the scene. In 2017, the band's song "Tend to the Thorns" was honoured at the U.K. Americana Awards as "U.K. Song of the Year". William the Conqueror spent 2018 writing and recording their second album. The resulting LP, "Bleeding on the Soundtrack", interweaves raw rock with thoughtful folk and undertones of blues and soul. The introspective third album "Maverick Thinker" was recorded in Los Angeles in early 2021. The band followed this up in 2023 with "Excuse Me While I Vanish", a series of muscular, nuanced and anthemic songs that emphasise their dark Southern rock influences.
