Zeal & Ardor are arguably one of the most innovative and provocative bands on the Swiss music scene, fusing blues and gospel with black metal to create a unique, captivating sound. On Wednesday, 09 April 2025, the band will be making a stop at the X-TRA in Zurich for an exclusive headline show.

Founded and led by Manuel Gagneux, Zeal & Ardor have grown in edge, depth and unpredictability over the years. After worldwide success with their debut album Devil Is Fine in 2017, they continued their rise with Stranger Fruit and the self-titled album Zeal & Ardor. This album received praise from media outlets such as NPR, Metal Hammer and KERRANG! For the fourth album GREIF, Manuel decided to divide the creative work among his bandmates, including Tiziano Volante (guitar), Marc Obrist (vocals), Denis Wagner (vocals), Lukas Kurmann (bass) and Marco Von Allmen (drums). They worked together in Marc's Hutch Sounds studio in Switzerland to create the album's dynamic and multi-layered soundscape.

GREIF explores intense emotions such as anger, joy and personal struggles, which are reflected in powerful tracks like Fend You Off, Kilonova and Clawing Out. The album title is inspired by an annual tradition in Manuel's hometown of Basel, where a mythical creature parades through the streets as a symbol of resistance against the oppression of the elites. This symbolism reflects the rebellious energy and multi-layered character of the album.
