On 9 May 2026, Sigi Hausen (Syrah) and Michael Popp—known from the independent pop ensemble Qntal—will appear with their classical vocal ensemble VocaMe at the Altes Krematorium Zürich, creating an evening that leads into distant, unfamiliar sound worlds.
VocaMe takes the audience on a musical journey through the early Middle Ages. The programme features works by the Byzantine composer Kassia (9th century), the visionary Hildegard of Bingen (12th century), and mystical love poetry by Hadewijch of Brabant (13th century), alongside pieces from the medieval repertoire that make faith, mysticism, and ancient traditions audible.
Clear voices and instruments such as harp, fiddle, oud, and Persian hammered dulcimer shape an intense sonic experience—once described by the Bonner Generalanzeiger as “a sound for eternity.”
VocaMe has performed internationally in cities including Copenhagen, Luxembourg, Stockholm, and Vancouver, as well as at renowned festivals. As part of the concert, the ensemble will present its latest CD; a special accompanying programme is currently in preparation.
