Hamburg-Based Indie-Pop Duo on a Major Tour with Their Debut Album
Philine Meyer and Manuel Romero Present When The Night Comes Live
Roller Derby is not only the name of a feminist roller-skating sport but also the moniker of the dream-pop duo from Hamburg, founded in 2020. Their music bridges nostalgic '80s sounds with modern indie pop, drawing inspiration from the '60s and '80s, as well as contemporary artists like Angel Olsen, Alvvays, and Beach House. Philine Meyer's dreamy vocals float over the warm guitar melodies of Manuel Romero Soria. Since their inception, Roller Derby has achieved remarkable milestones, including sold-out shows in Hamburg, Berlin, and London, as well as performances at prestigious festivals like Reeperbahn Festival, Appletree Garden Festival, and Dockville Festival. Their international recognition grew through appearances at showcase festivals such as SXSW in Austin, Texas, and The Great Escape in Brighton.
When The Night Comes – An Album That Shines and Floats
With When The Night Comes, Roller Derby delivers a debut album that draws its strength from softness and depth. Produced by Moses Schneider, the record blends an international sound with a charming DIY aesthetic. Across ten tracks, the album unfolds a melancholic, dreamy atmosphere reminiscent of the finest moments from Alvvays, Beach House, or Mazzy Star. The music remains dynamic—sometimes elegantly floating, sometimes driving and direct.
When The Night Comes Tour 2025
In spring 2025, Roller Derby will embark on a European tour to present their first full-length album live. The When The Night Comes tour includes stops in Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne, Munich, and Leipzig, with additional international shows in Paris, London, Manchester, Bristol, Brighton, Copenhagen, Vienna, and Zurich.
