Ethel Cain is the artistic project of Florida-born multidisciplinary artist Hayden Anhedönia. After years of self-teaching production and releasing various projects, Cain moved to Indiana, where she wrote, produced, recorded, and mixed her acclaimed 2021 EP Inbred entirely on her own in the basement of an old church where she lived.
Her debut album, Preacher’s Daughter—a multimedia project that took over four years to complete—was released in May 2022 and praised by The New York Times, NPR, Vogue, W Magazine, V Magazine, and more. Many critics named it one of the best albums of the year. Since then, Cain has spent years performing sold-out shows and major festival sets worldwide, attending New York and Paris Fashion Weeks, and collaborating with Givenchy, Miu Miu, and Calvin Klein. She has also worked with and shared the stage with Florence + the Machine, Mitski, and others.
