Chance Peña is a 25-year-old Texan songwriter and producer whose music blends traditional storytelling with modern sonic influences. After being signed to a record label for the first time at age 17, he quickly gained recognition when his song “Up, Up & Away” was featured in the film Five Feet Apart. He was later nominated for a Grammy as a co-writer on John Legend’s song “Conversations in the Dark.”
His debut album, Ever-Shifting, Continual Blossoming (2024), has accumulated over one billion streams on Spotify to date. Peña has collaborated with artists across various genres—from KYGO and Julia Michels on “Louder” to country-rock singer Sam Barber on the duet “Better Than the Floor.” His work radiates a contagious warmth.
His latest album, When I Change My Mind I Don’t Mean It, is a collection of self-reflective songs written in a secluded cabin in California. It’s characterized by the immersive indie-folk sound that has made him one of the most captivating voices of recent years.
“It’s so cool to see how music connects people live and to hear them sing along with me,” he says. “I like to say that music is a remedy for reality—because no matter what you’re going through, whether it’s happy or sad, good or bad, you’re not alone in it.”
