This Thursday, X-TRA is the event location for Shift, initiated and organized by the Centre for Digital Responsibility (CDR), a Think Tank for digital ethics. We had a talk with its founder Cornelia Diethelm.
A live-conference for digital topics… is this necessary?
A conference always offers a great opportunity to build a community, because attendants have the possibility to network and exchange their experiences. To organize an event like this, is very timie-consuming, but also important. Participants leave the conference with information they didn’t have at the beginning and can talk about it. We focus on humans, not on technology.
What topics will be discussed at the Shift 2020?
At this 2nd edition of Shift we will discuss the ethical aspects of the digitalisation. We will talk about practical approaches: What is possible, what makes sense and what doesn’t. On stage we try to ensure to have a good mix with a high level of women (including two professors in computer science) and young people. We already did this last year and it was very well received by the attendants.
Who do you want to reach with Shift 2020?
With our event we want to open access to our topics to everyone interested and also make them aware of the potential risks involved. We strongly beleive that prevention is always better than fixing: The longer companies wait taking action, the higher the price they have to pay at a later stage.
